Mel Croucher
"I have been a jobbing journalist most of my working life. I know pride is a sin, so as a sinner I am proud never to have missed a deadline, or be successfully sued. Most of my work for the printed page appears under my own name, although if an editor finds themself in the shit with blank space to fill then I have never had a problem using a pseudonym. Editors gave up trying to proof my stuff years ago, and these days I seem to be able to write what I like. In return, I keep it reasonably legal, decent and honest. And, like Lord Reith said of the BBC, I reckon my function is to inform, educate and entertain."
